b. Double portion goes to the first-born (Deuteronomy 21:15-17)
c. The wife is not an heir but is to be cared for by children or next of kin (Ruth 4:1-12; 1 Timothy 5:8)
d. Daughters inherit when there are no sons (Numbers 27:8—9)
e. When there are no children, the inheritance goes to the nearest relative (Numbers 27:9-11)
2. Real property – titles
a. Real estate - There are many laws relating to real estate that were designed to maintain tribal control in Israel that simply do not apply to the goyim. Therefore, I will only deal with those laws that actually apply to goy tzaddikim.
b. Mode of transfer
1) Deed made (Jeremiah 32:9-14)
2) An outward, public sign was made (Ruth 4:3-11)
3) Deed delivered among witnesses (Jeremiah 32:10, 12)
4) Deed recorded (Jeremiah 32:14)
a) Personal property (All property which is moveable, as against real property such as houses and lands)
i. Sale recognized (Leviticus 25:14)
ii. Pledges of:
a. Children offered as temporary servants (2 Kings 4:1-7)
b. Handmill or millstone (means of financial support and feeding ones’ self) were prohibited. (Deuteronomy 24:6)
c. Not retained overnight (Exodus 22:26-27; Deuteronomy 24:13)
d. Voluntary (Deuteronomy 24:10-11)
