Political leadership
1. Do not set a stranger in the office of king. (Deuteronomy 17:15)
2. The king must be the one Yahweh chooses. (Deuteronomy 17:15)
3. The king must not put his trust in military power. (Deuteronomy 17:16)
4. The king must not allow himself to be ruled by his wives. (Deuteronomy 17:17)
5. The king must not allow himself to be ruled by lust for wealth. (Deuteronomy 17:17)
6. The king is to write a copy of Halakha for himself in the presence of the priest. It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so tha the may learn to fear the Lord God, to observe all its instructions, and to obey all its statutes. Then his heart will not be exalted above his countrymen, he will not turn from the Scriptures to the right or to the left, and he will be able to retain his leadership. (Deuteronomy 17:18-20)
Romans 13:1-7 HCSB Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. (2) So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God's command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. (3) For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad.
